Running a play centre, by the numbers

Why we're starting this blog: short, practical notes on the operations and revenue of India's indoor play centres — from the team building PlayOps.

Most advice for indoor play centres is either generic retail wisdom or a franchise brochure. Almost none of it starts from what actually happens on a play-centre floor in India — the ₹50 sock sale, the birthday enquiry that never gets called back, the Saturday queue that a paper register can't hold.

We build PlayOps, operator software for exactly these floors. That work puts real operational questions in front of us every day, and this blog is where we'll write down what we learn. Expect a short read every couple of days, in three tracks:

From the data

What the numbers say about how play centres actually run — session lengths, extension patterns, repeat visits, weekday-vs-weekend splits. Aggregated and anonymised, never a specific centre's private numbers.

Playbooks

Step-by-step revenue plays you can run without new equipment. Birthdays are the obvious first topic — a single party books out a slow Sunday morning and brings twenty new families through the door. We'll cover how to price them, how to follow up on enquiries, and how to measure whether the play worked.

Product

When we ship something into PlayOps, we'll explain the operator problem it solves — not a feature list, but the reasoning.

If you run a play centre and want a topic covered, reply to any of our emails or write to team@playops.in — the best posts will come from real questions on real floors.

That's the plan. Subscribe below and the next post lands in your inbox.
